Privacy Policy

The Short Version

LittleWhisper does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. There are no LittleWhisper servers. There is no telemetry. Everything stays on your Mac.

Data Storage

All data generated or managed by LittleWhisper is stored locally on your Mac. This includes:

• Transcriptions — stored in a local database on your device.
• API keys — encrypted with ChaChaPoly and bound to your device's hardware UUID. They never leave your machine.
• Preferences and settings — stored locally using macOS standard storage.
• Downloaded models — saved to your local file system for on-device transcription.

Audio Data

When you record audio with LittleWhisper, it is processed in one of two ways depending on your configuration:

• Cloud transcription: Audio is sent directly from your Mac to the third-party provider you've selected (e.g., OpenAI, Deepgram, Groq). LittleWhisper does not intercept, relay, or store this audio on any intermediary server. The audio goes straight from your device to the provider's API.
• On-device transcription: Audio is processed entirely locally using whisper.cpp. No network requests are made. Nothing leaves your Mac.

Third-Party Services

If you choose to use a cloud transcription or editing provider, your audio and/or text is sent to that provider under their own privacy policy and terms of service. LittleWhisper supports integrations with:

• OpenAI
• Deepgram
• Groq
• Anthropic
• Google
• xAI

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any provider you choose to use. LittleWhisper has no control over how these services handle your data once it is sent to them.

No Telemetry or Analytics

LittleWhisper does not include any analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind. We do not use cookies, pixels, fingerprinting, or any other tracking mechanism. We have no way of knowing how you use the app — and that's by design.

No LittleWhisper Servers

There are no LittleWhisper servers, cloud infrastructure, or backend services involved in the operation of the product. The app communicates only with the third-party APIs you configure, and only when you initiate a transcription or editing action.

Payment Information

Purchases are processed by LemonSqueezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record. LittleWhisper does not collect, process, or store any payment information. Please refer to LemonSqueezy's privacy policy for details on how they handle payment data.

Children's Privacy

LittleWhisper is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Since we don't collect your email or any contact information, we can't notify you directly — so please check back periodically if this matters to you.
